We have been very busy rescuing dogs in our neighbourhood. We managed to have 19 dogs sterilized at the Humane Society in Zihuatanejo. Our friend, Donna and I started talking to the local families along our bike route each morning. We shared information about dog safety, sterilization and above all the care and feeding of their pets.

One day we were riding our bikes and noticed a dog in the tall grass beside the dirt road in Felleones. When we stopped to check on the dog we could see that he was injured and had possibly been hit by a vehicle. We looked around for someone who may have known the dog but to no avail so we returned home for our vehicle. We took the dog to the Humane Society and asked if they would check him over and keep him there as it seemed no one owned him. He was terribly thin and covered in mange. Six weeks later a lady came out of her house and was yelling at us not to take her puppy. We stopped and found out that the dog we had taken to Zihuatanejo was her dog. She was surprised to hear it survived as she had seen the car hit it. She wanted her dog back and we were happy to find out that the Humane Society had not adopted him out. The good news was that he was now healthy and neutered!

Cristian and Aremar are our new caretakers and live with their two children, Valeria and Cristopher. They have been with us since March 2009. They will help to make your visit a pleasant experience. Aremar has menus in the rooms and will cook a delicious meal for you upon request.

Of course we can't forget Manchita (Little Spot). She is their puppy. She was one of six puppies born in Feburary. Unfortunately, her mother could not feed all the puppies and 4 did not survive. We worried about her survival as she was taken from her mother at 3 weeks and hand fed. She is now happy, active and growning like crazy! Cristopher and Valeria have a great time with her!
